SEAD is a professional organization located in Steamboat Springs, Colorado offering integrated engineering and design services to the residential and commercial building industries in Northwest Colorado. SEAD offers all prospective clients an initial consultation followed by a cost estimate, scope of work and proposal, free of charge.

Jacob Mielke, P.E., graduated from the University of Wyoming in the spring of 2012 with a B.S. Degree in Architectural Engineering with a Structural Emphasis. He has been working at SEAD since 2012 and obtained his professional licence in April of 2017. He currently holds professional engineering licences in the states of Colorado, Wyoming and Texas. Jacob, along with his wife Caryn, purchased SEAD in January of 2018. He began working in the construction field with his father when he was 8 years old and continued to work in this industry throughout college. This has provided him with a substantial background in the construction industry. He enjoys living and working in Steamboat Springs with his wife, Caryn Mielke. He loves to spend time outdoors and is passionate about skiing, hiking, biking and hockey.
Caryn Mielke, P.E., earned her professional engineering licence in 2017, and has worked as a project engineer for SEAD since 2013. Caryn graduated from the University of Wyoming in December 2011 with a B.S. Degree in Architectural Engineering with a Structural Emphasis and a second degree in the Honors Program. She graduated valedictorian with magna cum laude honors. She has been interested in designing structures since age 10, and has a passion for environmental sustainably and continuing her professional development. Caryn considers it a dream-come-true to live, work and recreate in Steamboat with her husband Jacob Mielke.
Sam Samlowski, EIT, is a born-and-raised local of Steamboat Springs and considers himself fortunate to be able to pursue a career with SEAD in his hometown. Sam graduated from Fort Lewis College with a B.S. degree in General Engineering. His passion for engineering stems from how a design combines technical expertise and aesthetic appeal. Sam enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hockey, carpentry and hunting.
Ryan Malone, EIT, graduated from the University of Wyoming in December 2018 with a B.S. Degree in Architectural Engineering with a Structural Emphasis. He has multiple years of construction experience, which has given him a leg up in the design and engineering field. Ryan is from Saratoga, Wyoming and is blessed to find himself working and living in the mountainous Steamboat Springs area. He enjoys hiking, camping, weight lifting, football, spending his time outdoors, and is an avid hunter and fisherman.
Grady Koupal, PE, graduated from Humboldt State University in Northern California with a B.S. Degree in Environmental Resources Engineering in the spring of 2011. He completed additional Civil Engineering course work at the University of Colorado, Denver in 2019. He was a Structural Engineer-In-Training, (E.I.T) for Tesla between 2013 and 2016 where he set company records for productivity. Grady earned his professional license in April of 2016 in California and became licensed in Colorado later that year. Grady continued to work for Tesla as an Engineering Supervisor until 2018 when he moved to Steamboat and desired to contribute to this wonderful community. Grady is driven by all things mechanical and structural and enjoys woodworking, general carpentry; often using recycled materials. He worked in the Denver area also flipping houses for a few years before moving to Steamboat to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle including mountain biking, snowboarding, hockey and soccer.
